			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Weight today &#8212; 303 lbs.  This is just short of my first goal, which is 40 lbs lost.  I&#8217;ve stagnated.  I&#8217;m not at a plateau, as I&#8217;m not actively trying to lose more weight.  I&#8217;ve been hovering around this for several weeks now.  I stopped Nutrisystem, just because I can&#8217;t stand it any more.   It was great at first, but for some reason, I can&#8217;t stomach it any more.  In fact, lots of foods aren&#8217;t appealing to me any more for some reason.  A sandwich, for example.  I don&#8217;t know why, but eating a sandwich (at home) is difficult.  I&#8217;m developing a weird attitude vs. a lot of foods, and I&#8217;m not sure why.  Hopefully it&#8217;s just a stage.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This week begins the 6th week of my diet, and I&#8217;m proud to say that I&#8217;m now 27 pounds lighter than when I started!  I&#8217;m now at 313 lbs.  This is the smallest I&#8217;ve been in years!   Today I went through my pants and separated them into 5 categories.  Too big (started a pile of those to donate), What fits me now, What will fit me in a week or so, and then the future.  I want to remove anything that&#8217;s too big as soon as it doesn&#8217;t fit me.  This is a one-trip &#8212; I don&#8217;t ever plan on getting to the size I was again.  When I get down to my target weight, I&#8217;m going to spring for a new wardrobe.  Until then, I&#8217;ll grab some stuff from goodwill, since I&#8217;m not going to be wearing it very long.</p>
<p>One thing I&#8217;ve been trying to do while I&#8217;m on this journey is to be more active.  It&#8217;s pretty hard with what I do for a living, so I do what I can, when I can.  Yesterday I went skiing.  Tomorrow, I&#8217;ll get back on the Wii Fit.  Every little bit helps!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-64" title="scale" src="http://www.edsfamily.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/scale.jpg" alt="scale" width="200" height="207" />Starting my 4th week of the new diet.  Things are going pretty well.  Hit a plateau this week which was a bummer, but it made it up by the end of the week.  Went out to dinner on Saturday (Ruby Tuesday&#8217;s), didn&#8217;t go nutso, and also didn&#8217;t fall off the wagon!   We&#8217;ve decided to go out once a month, and try to be as good as we can.  It can be difficult, especially if you go to a place that has tons of good (and fattening) food!   I&#8217;m off of work this week, because we&#8217;re going to Steamboat tomorrow.  We&#8217;re taking our NS food, so we should be good to go.  I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll have any problems dropping more weight this week, since I plan on expending a *lot* of energy!  So without any further delay&#8230;</p>
<p>Ed steps on the scale&#8230;</p>
<p>319.6</p>
<p>This brings my weight loss to a total of 20.4 lbs!  Not bad for 3 weeks.  I looked around for a javascript thing that would show the weight on a scale, but couldn&#8217;t find one.  Perhaps I should add that to the projects list&#8230;.  Also, something to show a progress graph would be nice.</p>

<p>That means I&#8217;ve lost 9.8 lbs!  Not bad for one week!  I know that some of that is water weight, and it will slow down, but still!   This week I have been very energetic, even though I removed caffeine from my diet.   There might be something to this whole eating right thing after all!</p>

<p>I&#8217;m pretty full.  The lasagne tasted better than I feared it would (maybe a slight step down from Stouffer&#8217;s frozen lasagne)  I&#8217;m happy.  This means that I can deal with the food and be successful.  Brandy made the mistake of making Pillsbury biscuits that looked and smelled *SOO* good.  I had to literally leave the room.  I went upstairs and read &#8212; I didn&#8217;t want to be anywhere near them.  I figure with the weight I want to lose (total of 120 lbs, but my goal for the year is 50), I&#8217;m going to be on this for a year.  It&#8217;s going to be hard.  I will probably have times where I break down.  The biggest boost I think is that my meals are filled with sweets (a lot are sugar alcohols &#8211; will see how my digestive system deals with that soon)  If you&#8217;re interested in knowing more about the program, let me know and I can tell you more (it&#8217;s a simple online ordering process, no pyramid schemes, etc.) &#8212; I do get a small referral bonus though, so let me know if you&#8217;re interested.  Check out <a href="http://www.nutrisystem.com">Nutrisystem.com</a> for more details.</p>
<p>All that being said, I&#8217;m going to spare you the rest of the gory details.  I plan on updating on weight progress once a week though, and hopefully will be able to see some good progress soon.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So, last Monday I started on a weight loss program to shed some L-B&#8217;s.  I believe that before I started, I weighed over 340 lbs, and today I am down to 333.  Not bad for 1 week, even though a lot of that was water weight.   In order to make things a little easier and more hi-tech, I wrote a couple of simple webapps that I could use with my Blackberry to keep track of things:</p>
<ul>

<li><a href="http://www.edsfamily.com/bberry/calories.php">Calorie Counter</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.edsfamily.com/bberry/glucose.php">Glucose Tracker</a></li>
</ul>
<p>I also started the <a href="http://www.hundredpushups.com/">100 Push Ups program</a> so that I can do something physical at the same time.  My initial test: 5 push-ups.  Better than 0 I guess <img src='http://www.edsfamily.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>At the end of one week, I think that things are going swimmingly.  My first goal is to hit 310 for my niece&#8217;s wedding at the end of August.  I should be able to hit this goal if I keep at it.  If anyone feels like the simple web apps would work for them and would like the source code or for me to make them useful for others, just let me know, I&#8217;d be happy to help.  (The data entry page is a simple webform that&#8217;s easily navigatable with mobile devices)</p>
