Chaos

Chaos is a remake of a game that I (and several other of my friends) used to play in college, on the Atari ST computer. The game was actually a remake of a previous version on the Spectrum 128. So, this is a remake of a remake :)

Chaos
Current Version (last updated 01/31/06)

New in this version:
Wizard creation
Spell examination
Graphics – go through the menus by hitting 4 to see the graphic anims at the end

Known issues:
options 2 and 3 don’t work on the menu yet
Short sounds sometimes repeat – will be fixed soon
Doesn’t work in Firefox 1.5 – not sure I can fix this one — works fine everywhere else

Version 20060119

I’ve added a proper loading screen and made it look like the original

The sound player is done (I hope) – Hit ‘S’ on the screen that it tells you to, and then follow the instructions. Please try to break it – it’s probably fragile smile.gif

Arg, just realized that the “Jam” mode isn’t done yet. Oh well, adding to the list.

I’ll get to the actual game soon, I promise smile.gif

First version

It’s obviously not done (or even playable yet)

That file includes all of the sounds – so it won’t get much bigger (like 350k – not bad for so many sounds)

I ripped the sounds and the font directly from the executable – I tried ripping the bitmaps but got bogged down – couldn’t get anything usable with the ripper I was using.

I’m going to do screen captures for the game graphics – it will take a while, but shouldn’t be too bad.

The font and graphics are very old looking – I’m going for authenticity here – I’m thinking about having a modernized version (basically do gaussian blur and sharpen more on the images – it makes em look a lot better – not as pixelated) Maybe a screen at the beginning that explains the project or something – maybe just in html.

Doing the font stuff in director took a while to do, but my routines are done now so it should be pretty cool, even if it looks pixellated smile.gif

Anyway, I thought I’d update you with my progress. The sample player should be pretty fun when that’s done. That will be next.
