Forever and a day
03/01/07
So, it feels like forever since I’ve posted here – been up to a lot of stuff lately:
- I joined a bi-weekly poker tournament night — About 20 of us get together every other Friday to play some Texas Hold’em and have a lot of fun. It’s great to get out of the house and actually interact with people — working from home has a major disadvantage, and that’s that it lacks the social aspect of working in an office. This helps out a bit.
- I joined a Pen-and-paper role playing campaign (think Dungeons and Dragons) – part of my “get more of a social life” project, I’ve been playing with a group of people every week for the past month or so – this is something that I dabbled a bit with in High School and college, but it never turned into anything long term. We currently playing “Palladium Fantasy”, but might switch to different systems in the future. I’m going to be joining a second campaign (with a different group of people) in the near future as well.
- I started miniature painting. This is something that I’ve always had an interest in, but never had the stuff to do it. I’m not that great at it yet, but one of the guys that I game with is a killer artist and will be giving me some pointers soon. I have some pics on Flickr of the minis I’ve painted so far.
- Skiing – We took the kids up to Loveland a couple of weeks ago and we all (re)learned how to ski (well, some of us skied, while others (who will remain nameless) spent the day falling) Need to go back soon!
- I started Lego collecting / dealing – I bought a 35 lb. lot of Lego and have been building some of the sets that came in it (with some missing pieces that I’m trying to fill in.) I’ve also been buying some others from other locations and reselling them on…
- eBay — We (Brandy and I) have started an eBay store! We’ve been talking about getting more serious about selling stuff on eBay, and we finally bit the bullet and opened up a store on there, called Brandy’s Dandies. We also registered the domain name brandysdandies.com (which links to our store). We’ve been scanning and taking photos of the stuff that’s been taking up space in the basement, but we’ll soon start buying things from local auctions. Hopefully this will get us some extra spending money (I’ve been thinking a lot about Vegas and Hawaii getaways lately
So, that’s it for now – hopefully I won’t wait this long to post the next time
